In the first half of 2023, China's sponge titanium production reached nearly 110000 tons

From January to June 2023, China's sponge titanium production was 109900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 59.65%, with an increase of 41100 tons. The largest incremental enterprise in the first half of the year was Yunnan Guotai.

The region with the largest increase in production in the first half of the year was Liaoning, with a growth rate of 125.93%, followed by Yunnan, with a growth rate of 117.86%; Since the second half of last year, market production has gradually released, and enterprise production has remained at a high level. However, the growth rate of terminal demand is slow, and the supply and demand of sponge titanium market is unbalanced. Starting from April, enterprise production has declined, and sponge titanium production in the third quarter will also decrease.

The top three regions for domestic sponge titanium production from January to June are Liaoning, Yunnan, and Xinjiang, accounting for 30%, 17%, and 14% of the total domestic production, respectively.

Late stage development: The economic environment is sluggish, and the recovery of terminal demand is slow this year. However, the supply of sponge titanium in the market continues to increase, and there is significant inventory pressure on enterprises, resulting in weak prices for new sponge titanium orders; On the cost side of raw materials, the prices of magnesium ingots and titanium chloride process raw materials continue to be high. Sponge titanium enterprises face great production pressure, and the market has a strong price pressure sentiment. In the future, sponge titanium prices may continue to decline, and the market supply will decrease again in the third quarter, maintaining weak and stable operation.
