The difference between neck welded titanium flange and neck flat welded titanium flange

There are mainly three points:

1. The welding seam forms are different: the welding seam form between the neck flat welded titanium flange pipe and the titanium flange is a fillet weld, while the welding seam form between the neck butt welded flange and the pipe is a circumferential weld;

2. Material difference: The material of the neck flat welding flange is processed from ordinary titanium plate with a thickness that meets the requirements, while the material of the neck butt welding flange is mostly machined from titanium forgings;

3. The nominal pressure is different: the nominal pressure of the neck flat welding flange is 0.6-4.0MPa, while the nominal pressure of the neck butt welding flange is 1-25MPa;

4. Another point is that the weld seam connecting the neck butt welding flange and the connecting pipe belongs to Class B seam, while the weld seam connecting the neck flat welding flange and the connecting pipe belongs to Class C seam. The non-destructive testing after welding is different;

5. Necked flat welding flanges and necked butt welding flanges cannot be easily replaced. From a manufacturing perspective, a larger internal diameter of a necked flat welding flange (SO stands for SLIP ON) means smaller weight and lower cost. In addition, necked butt welding flanges with a nominal diameter greater than 250mm (WN stands for WELLING NECK) need to be tested, and SO flanges do not need to be tested, so the cost is low.
